Pacific coast of Turtle Island, Hawaii, and along the Pacific coast of South America

SEASONAL CHANGES:

Perennial herb; long-stemmed and compound leaves with three equal-sized, coarsely-toothed leaflets 

Blooms white flowers April to May 

Red berries grow in early summer

USES: 

Berries can be eaten fresh; are used in jams and sauces

Chewed leaves are used as a poultice for burns

Leaves are brewed into a sweet tea

Leaves are also used as a medicine for diarrheais
